Overview
To bill Medicare Advantage claims through Zaya, providers must first be enrolled under Zaya’s Medicare group application. This is required by Medicare so that Zaya can obtain a unique PTAN for each provider.
This enrollment does not impact other Medicare enrollments (e.g., under your own Tax ID) and does not require you to submit Traditional Medicare claims through Zaya. Providers can be linked to multiple groups simultaneously without affecting existing affiliations.
Key Info
- Every provider with an NPI has a PECOS account. Providers who believe they don’t have one typically just haven’t used it or their account has been managed by staff without full CMS access. However, you do not need to remember you credentials in order to complete the e-signature.
- Linked CMS Systems:
- CMS Identity and Access Management (IAM): Primary login system
- NPPES: Manages the NPI profile
- PECOS: Manages Medicare enrollments
- To complete e-signature providers do not require the login access.
- If however, they wish to access their PECOS account follow these password reset steps at the bottom of this article. If login access is lost or controlled by another party, providers can contact CMS at 1-866-484-8049 to regain control.
Steps to Complete Electronic Signature in PECOS
- Locate the CMS PIN Email.
- You should have received separate emails from customerservice-donotreply@cms.hhs.gov - one for each provider.
- Each email contains a unique 13-digit PIN required for completing the e-signature.
- Either:
- Forward the email to the respective provider so they can sign, or
- If you are authorized, use the PIN yourself in the PECOS E-Signature portal
- ⚠️ PINs expire 14 days after submission. If a PIN expires, contact the Zaya Credentialing Team — we can retrigger the request if needed.
- In the CMS email click on the link that's located below "If you do not have access to PECOS" (see screenshot)
- You will see an interface similar to the one below (see screenshot).
Make sure to enter your provider's full legal first name as listed in their CAQH (e.g., Mary Jane instead of Mary) and use the PIN from the CMS email (blacked out section in above screenshot)
4. Apply e-signature
After Submission
- Email credentialing@zayacare.com to confirm completion.
- The Zaya Credentialing Team will verify your enrollment.
If you do need access to your PECOS system for other reasons, try resetting the I&A Password (has to be done by the provider; cannot be completed by office staff on provider's behalf)
- Go to the CMS I&A Login website
- Click 'Forgot Password'
- Enter your User ID
- If you can’t answer the security questions:
- Try to reset by email
- If no email access, call the EUS Help Desk.
- Call the EUS Help Desk at 1-866-484-8049 (TTY: 1-866-523-4759)
- Request a password reset or unlock.
- Have your NPI, PTAN, and Date of Birth ready.
